Climbing the Mountain

Do you know what’s funny? OK, maybe it’s not completely funny, you can laugh/cry at this one, at least I did when I was thinking about this concept. Guys, life is not about climbing the mountain.

It’s about understanding that you’re climbing the mountain only to get to the top and see the mountain range beyond it. Thinking, you made it, the journey is done, and it’s looking out and realizing that this mountain was just one of many.

Life is not about climbing this one mountain, you get to the top, look out, and sigh with relief that you did it, and that’s it…it’s looking out, appreciating it, then using what you’ve learned from this one to take on the next.

It is recognizing that there are many mountains. And sometimes you’ll start climbing some and halfway up, realize that was the wrong one, and you have to start climbing another one. That is ok. Sometimes it’s better to recognize it sooner than reach the top only to find out that the view isn’t so great.

There will be highs and lows. You’ll reach summits, you’ll hit valleys, and you’ll start again. That is the rhythm. You climb, you learn, you keep moving.

This is about falling in love with the process of the climb. There is so much out there about feeling we need to reach this destination (that doesn’t exist). And I don’t think that’s the end goal.

It’s about enjoying the process we have now. There is no end, there is no finish line; we need to get that idea out of our heads and recognize the journey.

It’s never-ending, and that is the point. It’s beautiful, it’s hard, and boy, is it worth it.
