Three Simple (Faith-based) Habits That Changed My Life
Sometimes the things that make the biggest impact in our lives are the simplest. Today I want to share three faith-based things that have truly changed my life—practices that have helped me feel more grounded, peaceful, and connected to God each day.
Because, as someone who was not practicing in any sort of spirituality prior to this, it was important for me to incorporate these things into my daily life. I was recently reminded that Jesus is our daily bread. Not weekly. He is there to provide what we need each day. We don’t get to go all in once a week and then think that will keep us full each day (a lesson I always try to remember).
1. I Start the Day Talking to God
The very first thing I do when I wake up is talk to God. Before my mind even has a chance to run wild with the to-do list or worries, I really try to center myself. I even have a pinned note in my phone with the foundation of things I want to talk to God about. I saw something on Instagram once that really stuck with me: “Pray for God to get in your head before you do.” And I love this.
That’s exactly what I try to do. As soon as I’m conscious, I ask Him to guide my thoughts and help me set the tone for the day. It’s such a simple act, but it changes everything. It helps me start the morning with intention.
2. I Listen to Worship Music During My Morning Routine
The second thing I’ve added to my morning routine is worship music. Ok, this one has been huge. It used to be that I’d pick a random playlist or radio station on Spotify as I got ready. But now, worship music is my go-to in the mornings.
This has become a conscious habit—one that helps me root myself in Christ as I begin my day. Before I move on to my other music or whatever the day brings, I want that foundation of worship and gratitude. And this has had such an impact on my life and my closeness to God.
3. I End the Day With God
At the end of the day, I close it out by talking to God. Since I’ve started the day with Him and tried to stay in conversation with Him throughout, it feels natural to end the day this way too.
These three simple changes, starting with God, filling my mornings with worship, and ending my day in gratitude, have made such a difference in my life. They’ve helped me feel more grounded, more aligned with my faith, and just more at peace.
Maybe you already do these things, or maybe you’re looking for small ways to draw closer to God. I’m sharing what’s worked for me, as I have found my way back to Christ. And these simple habits have truly changed my life.
